Some musicians try to write hits. Others try to create art. It's easy to see which group singer-songwriter and guitarist Cochrane belongs to. Armed with proggy folk-rock epics bearing titles such as The Greatest Since Rembrandt and The Glory of Man, the middle-aged Cochrane is a throwback to the '70s grandeur of Genesis, Tull and Chris De Burgh. But even though we give him credit for following his muse and all that, we have to point out that a little boundary-pushing originality wouldn't hurt, either. After all, that's why it was called prog.
